Is it us?

Maybe. Here's how to find out quickly, and how to tell us if it is.

This page is not an automated monitor. It's part of our website, built and published like the rest of it. We're not going to print a green tick that was true three weeks ago — during an outage that's exactly the sentence you'd believe and exactly the sentence that would be wrong.

Try these first — they fix most of it

  1. Force-quit the app and reopen it. A phone that's been asleep on a bad connection often comes back holding a stale session.
  2. Check you're online. Load any other site. Captive wifi at a bar or a coffee shop is the single most common cause of "the app is broken" — the venue's own network is intercepting the connection.
  3. Try mobile data instead of wifi, or the other way round.
  4. Update the app. If you're a version or two behind, something we changed on our side may have moved out from under you.

If that didn't do it

Tell us. support@placeandti.me, and the four things that make it fixable in one reply instead of five:

  • What you were trying to do.
  • What happened instead — a screenshot beats a description.
  • Roughly when, and where you were.
  • iPhone or Android, and which version of the app if you know it.

What we watch

So you know what "we're on it" actually means on our side:

Sign-in and the app's connection to our database
If this is down, nothing works and we know about it.
Matching, scheduling and check-in
The parts with a time attached. A date that can't be confirmed is more urgent than a page that won't load, and we treat it that way.
Notifications and email
Delivery is a queue. A backlog shows up as messages arriving late rather than not at all, which is why "I didn't get the email" is worth telling us about even if it turns up an hour later.
Safety reports
These page a person directly. If you've reported something and heard nothing, that is itself worth an email to us — write to support@placeandti.me.

This is also where we'll post if something goes wrong for long enough to be worth writing down. Anything urgent, or anything about your safety, goes to Support rather than waiting for a page to update.
